MURRAY BRIDGE BIKE PARK /

Sturt Reserve is a vibrant riverside area located in Murray Bridge, South Australia, renowned for attracting tourists and locals alike. This dynamic location provides a wide array of activities, including water sports, skate park, and playgrounds, catering to a diverse range of interests.

As the lead consultant, our role involved collaborating with the community and delivering design services for a new Bike Park intended to enhance the reserve and offer a distinctive off-road experience.

During the consultation process, the council conducted preliminary assessments to ensure the facility would cater to beginner and intermediate users, aligning with feedback collected from community consultations.

The design features convenient access from multiple roads, with nearby car parking available for visitors. We implemented split lines in the design for skill development, safety, and user enjoyment, incorporating feature jumps at the end of each line. Additionally, rollers and moguls were included as part of the design based on community requests.

Moreover, we proposed an earth-covered storage unit for tools and accessories necessary for public maintenance. This facility was designed to be constructed from compacted earth, and a maintenance regime involving local community members will be established by the council through handover workshops and dig days.
